Mara Rae Neufeld Rivera is a dedicated partner in transforming the work experience. With over 25 years of experience as an executive people and culture leader and human resources strategist, Mara is passionate about helping organizations build best workplace cultures. Throughout her career, she has held leadership roles across diverse settings—from multi-billion dollar global enterprises to non-profits, private organizations, ESOPs, and small businesses. Her expertise spans a wide array of industries, including luxury consumer goods, professional services, biotech, general contracting, consulting, manufacturing, and the arts.
As a true generalist, Mara collaborates closely with executives to provide insights across all HR disciplines, covering everything from operational aspects like policy and compliance to strategic initiatives focused on culture, talent, and performance design. She holds a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) designation through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and was honored to be named Vermont’s Human Resources Professional of the Year in 2020.
Currently, Mara serves as the Board Chair of Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR), the Vermont State Council Director of SHRM, and the Chair of the Vermont State HR Conference. She earned her Master of Science in Human Resources Management from the Milano Graduate School at The New School University, and she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Queens College, City University of New York. Mara is also a proud graduate of Leadership Upper Valley.
Originally from New York City, Mara moved to the picturesque Upper Valley in 2007, where she lives with her husband and their cherished rescued dogs and cats. Her daughter, Mia, is currently studying Psychology as an undergraduate at the University of New Hampshire.
